From this welcoming base, spend a day in the well known town of La Rochelle, with its old harbour, lively waterside cafés and aquarium - well worth a visit. Alternatively, visit the Marais Poitevin, with lovely boat trips on the river to discover wildlife and windsurfing on Lake Xanton, a short drive away, or Futursocope Park.
